Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) has published its winter timetable, and several of the new routes are built around Christmas and New Year. The schedule started on 25 October 2026 and runs until 27 March 2027. The airport says around 70 airlines will fly to 140 destinations in 50 countries over the season.
The new European routes
These are the additions the airport announced on 20 October 2026, with the start dates it gives:
- Edinburgh (Eurowings): once or twice a week, from 4 December to 4 January only.
- Milan-Malpensa (Wizz Air): daily from 14 December, the airline’s first Italian route from BER.
- Sarajevo: Wizz Air twice a week from 3 December, and Eurowings non-stop from 20 December.
- Vilnius (Wizz Air): three times a week from 26 October.
- Kuusamo, Finnish Lapland: airBaltic weekly from 19 December, and Eurowings from 20 December.
- Pristina and Suceava (Wizz Air): three times a week each, from 14 and 17 December.
Seasonal returns and extra flights
Some familiar routes are back for the winter or running more often:
- Newcastle (easyJet): twice a week from 20 November to 21 December 2026.
- Rome and Bologna (Eurowings): four flights a week to Rome and three to Bologna, from 2 November.
- Rovaniemi and Kittilä: Eurowings adds frequencies to both Lapland airports.
- Milan: easyJet keeps serving both Malpensa and Linate.
Eurowings also continues to fly to Lisbon, Porto and Bilbao after the summer season.
What it means for your weekend
The Edinburgh and Newcastle flights line up neatly with Christmas market season. From Scotland or north-east England you can fly straight to Berlin for a December weekend; see our Berlin Christmas markets guide and the Berlin city guide. The Newcastle service ends on 21 December, so it suits early and mid-December trips.
Berliners get an easy pre-Christmas run to Milan from mid-December, and Vilnius, which hosts one of the Baltic’s prettiest markets, is reachable three times a week from 26 October. Our Vilnius Christmas market guide and things to do in Milan can help you plan. The Kuusamo flights open up Finnish Lapland for a snowy long weekend over the holidays.
Tip: The Edinburgh route runs only once or twice a week. Check the airline’s schedule for exact days before building a weekend around it.
The airport gave frequencies and start dates, but not daily departure times. Schedules can still change, so check with the airline before you travel. More updates are on our news page.
