About Weekend in Europe

Weekend in Europe helps you make more of a short trip: a clear route, the food a city is known for, and enough room in the plan to wander.

Our story

The project began with a couple who lived in London, Paris and Istanbul and spent their weekends and long weekends exploring Europe. That idea still runs through everything here. A short trip can be rich without being over-planned, and two days is enough if you spend them well.

Today the site and our Instagram, @weekend_in_europe, work together. Every Friday we pick three trips worth taking that weekend. During the week we publish 48-hour routes, food guides and the practical details that save a trip.

What goes into a guide

Each city guide combines a two-day route you can follow or bend, the dishes worth travelling for and where to try them, and the practical checks: how to get in from the airport, what needs booking, what’s closed for renovation. We write for people with a weekend, not a fortnight, so every guide makes choices for you.

How we check facts

  • Official sources first. Opening times, dates, closures and ticket rules are checked against the venue, the operator or the city’s tourism office. Each guide lists the sources we used and the month we last checked them.
  • Dates are dated. Events and Christmas markets carry the year they apply to. When a date hasn’t been announced, we say so instead of guessing.
  • No prices. Prices change faster than guides do, so we leave them out and link to the official page.
  • Places we name are open. Before we recommend a restaurant, bar or shop, we confirm it is still trading.

What we don’t do

We don’t claim a personal visit we can’t stand behind. Research-based suggestions are written as such. Photos are our own or licensed stock and are credited where practical. If a post is ever paid for, or contains affiliate links, we say so clearly at the top. Nobody can pay to be included in a guide.

Spotted something out of date?

Things change, and readers often know first. If a place has closed or a date has moved, tell us and we’ll check it and fix the guide.

Facts last checked in October 2026. Opening times and dates change, so confirm on the official site before you travel.
