Prague’s festival of light turns churches, courtyards and riverbanks into installations after dark. Most of the trail is outdoors and free; the indoor Signal INSIDE venues need a ticket. Walk it after 7pm, when the crowds thin. Until Sun 18 Oct.
Zaragoza, Spain
The Fiestas del Pilar are Zaragoza’s big October celebration, built around the city’s patron saint. This is the closing weekend: free concerts, the fairground and the old town at its liveliest. Until Sun 18 Oct.
Alba, Italy
Alba’s International White Truffle Fair runs every weekend into December. Come for the truffle market and the Langhe hills around it, where Barolo and Barbaresco are made. Until 6 Dec.
